IAMO expanding cooperation with Uzbek universities

In January, IAMO director Thomas Glauben visited several Uzbek cooperation partners for bilateral meetings and exchange with students. The main aim of the visit was to intensify cooperation with cooperation partners and discussion of ongoing activities and future plans. IAMO is implementing several projects in the country such as KlimALEZ, IPReS, AGRICHANGE, SUSADICA and DSinGIS in the recent years aimed at improving the sustainability of agriculture and welfare of rural households. IAMO is also implementing many scientific transfer activities in the scope of these project. Furthermore, project have strong capacity building components to improve the research capacity of local universities and institutes. IAMO is actively involved in transformation and internationalization of education systems in the country.
On January 4th, Thomas Glauben signed Memoranda of Understanding with Samarkand Branch of Tashkent State Agrarian University, represented by rector Shavkat Hasanov and Samarkand Branch of Tashkent State Economics University, represented by director Olim Murtazaev.
In the upcoming years, the parties agreed on an intensification of cooperation in the areas of research, teaching and science transfer. Topics of mutual interest are the development of local supply chains, international trade and digital risk management.
On January 6, cooperation and consultation talks took place at Nordic International University with rector Sherzod Mustafakulov, Honorary Consul of Finland in Uzbekistan as well as vice-rector Nuriddin Muradullaev. Main topics were the development of international oriented curricula and joint research projects.
Further talks involved exchange with rector Munira Aminova of Tashkent International Agrarian University on the further development of the German-Uzbek Chair for international agricultural economy, which is led by IAMO researcher Ihtiyor Bobojonov.
